It was a historic evening at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on August 31 (Saturday) as Hong Kong completed the third-quickest chase in T20I history, taking just 10 balls to complete a thumping nine-wicket win over Mongolia in the sixth match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier A 2024.
Hong Kong completing the third-quickest chase in T20I history came on the back of them bowling out Mongolia for the third-lowest total in T20I history. Batting first, Mongolia got bowled out for 17 in 14.2 overs, with off-spinner Ehsan Khan registering figures of 3-0-5-4.
In a historic spell, medium pacer Ayush Shukla became just the third bowler ever to bowl four maidens in a T20I innings, finishing with figures of 4-4-0-1.
In response, Hong Kong needed just 10 balls to get to the target, with Zeeshan Ali (15* off 6) helping them get there in style.
The only two teams to have completed a T20I chase quicker than Hong Kong are Japan (8 balls) and Spain (2 balls).
