On October 15, England were dealt with a big blow when their skipper Heather Knight went down with a calf injury against West Indies in Dubai during the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. The right-handed batter was in sublime form just before she went down, scoring three boundaries and getting herself to 21 off just 13 balls.
Eventually, the physios helped Knight back to the dressing room as the England skipper retired hurt. The 33-year-old has suffered a few injuries in the past, including a hip surgery that ruled her out of the 2023 Commonwealth Games, where Nat Sciver-Brunt took over as the captain.
The new batter, Amy Jones, couldn’t make any sort of impact on the game, as Nat Sciver-Brunt took it all upon herself, alongside Danielle Gibson, to take England to 141 after 20 overs. It is unclear whether Knight has sustained an injury that would keep her away from just this game or the rest of the tournament.
