Harry Brook will lead Northern Superchargers in the 2024 edition of the men’s Hundred, replacing Wayne Parnell in the role.
This will be Brook’s first full-time captaincy assignment since leading England U19 in the 2018 U19 World Cup. Only 25 years old, Brook is seen as a potential successor to Jos Buttler as England’s captain in both ODIs and T20Is.
"It's an honour to captain Northern Superchargers, and I'm really excited about it. "It's always special to play at Headingley and to represent the area, and to do that as captain in the Hundred this year will be extra special,” Brook said about his appointment.
"I really like the look of the squad we've formed, and I think there's a lot to be excited about. I can't wait to work with Freddie (Flintoff) and the rest of the group and hopefully, it'll be a year to remember,” he added.
Northern Superchargers were the wooden spoon holders in the previous edition of the tournament, managing only two wins in eight matches alongside an abandoned game. The upcoming season of men’s Hundred will start from July 24 onwards with the lung-opener between the hosts Oval Invincibles and Birmingham Phoenix at the Oval. The final is scheduled on August 18 at Lord’s.
