Harry Brook equals rare Test record in Pakistan with century

It is Brook’s fourth Test century in Pakistan, the joint-most in the country for an away batter

“Would you want to carry Pakistan’s pitch with you everywhere?”

Harry Brook’s answer will always be a yes. Brook’s happy hunting in Pakistan continued, as he brought up his fourth Test century in the Asian country on October 9 (Wednesday). It is not shocking in any way that Brook's average of 113.4 is the best for any batter in Pakistan (min 500 runs).

The right-hander walked out to bat on the back of Ben Duckett’s quick-fire innings and did not waste a single moment before taking the attack to Pakistan. While Joe Root was eyeing his three-figure score, Brook was smashing the bowlers with a liking for Abrar Ahmed’s mystery spin.

Brook was coming into this innings on the back of stellar last two innings in Pakistan, where he scored 111 in Karachi (2022) and 108 in Multan (2022) during England’s last tour. He brought up his third consecutive century in Pakistan, taking just 118 balls, smashing eight fours and one six. Brook's century was the second of the innings and the fifth century of the match thus far.

So, what’s the record that he has equalled?

It is the joint-most centuries for any away batter in Pakistan, equalling India’s Mohinder Amarnath (18 innings) and Sri Lanka’s Aravinda de Silva (17 innings). What’s worth noting is that Brook has just taken six innings to get to four Test centuries in Pakistan.

Quite a wizard, Harry!
