Haris Rauf becomes Pakistan's joint-highest wicket-taker in T20Is
The Pakistan pacer joins Shadab Khan at the top of the pile with 107 scalps
With his four-wicket haul against Australia in Sydney on November 16 (Saturday), fast bowler Haris Rauf has moved to 107 T20 International (T20I) wickets, making him the joint-highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in the format. The pacer joins Shadab Khan at the top of the pile.
Rauf picked up the wickets of Jake Fraser-McGurk and Josh Inglis early on and later returned to get rid of Tim David and Xavier Bartlett. Shadab and Rauf are the only two bowlers with more than 100 wickets for Pakistan in T20Is. Shaheen Afridi, with 96 scalps, is the next in line to reach the landmark. Rauf's wickets have come at an average of 20.36 and he has conceded 8.14 runs an over.
Rauf, who made his name at the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia with the Melbourne Stars, made his debut for Pakistan in 2020. He took his 100th T20I wicket at the T20 World Cup 2024 match against Canada in New York in just his 71st match — the fastest for his country and the fourth fastest overall.
Rauf also has 79 scalps from 20 One-Day Internationals (ODI) and in his solitary Test, has picked up one wicket. In the ongoing series, Rauf picked up one wicket in a rain-curtailed match in Brisbane, and he has followed that up with 4/22 in the second, Pakistan restrict the hosts to 147/9.
A win in this match will see Pakistan level the three-match series 1-1.
