Hanuma Vihari has decided against a move to a different state and has decided to stay put with Andhra and will lead the side in the upcoming season as well, according to a report on Cricbuzz. It was believed that the batter would move to Madhya Pradesh for the upcoming season and further push to make a comeback into the Indian side. Recently, Vihari led South Zone to the Duleep Trophy title, scoring 0, 43, 63 and 42.
"Although he expressed interest in moving, the NOC (No Objection Certificate) was not granted. Nevertheless, we are pleased that he has chosen to remain with us." Andhra Cricket Association CEO Siva Reddy said. Vihari, who hit 490 runs in 14 innings for Andhra last season, including a heroic innings where he batted left-handed, was keen to play under MP head coach Chandrakant Pandit.
However, Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) CEO Rohit Patel believes there is still much time left before a final decision is reached.
"Vihari did show interest initially, but we have not finalized anything. There is ample time for this matter to be resolved," he said.
Vihari has played 16 Tests for India since debuting against England in 2018. He has amassed 839 runs at 33.56, which includes five fifties and a ton. He last played in the rescheduled fifth Test against England at Edgbaston, in which he scored 31 across both innings as India lost by seven wickets.
Vihari was dropped after that and admitted that he was disappointed nobody contacted him to tell him the reason behind it. "Definitely, there was disappointment," Vihari had told The Indian Express.
"I didn't find a reason why I was dropped and it was the only thing that was bothering me. Nobody really contacted me and told me the reasons why I was dropped. It took some time and I have gone through ups and downs and I'm not worried about it now.
