Broad, Gayle and Bravo among those awarded MCC lifetime membership

The ten-person list, revealed by the MCC on July 4 (Thursday), consists of six female cricketers

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), for the calendar year 2024, has awarded ten cricketers with the Honorary Life Membership of the Club.

Among the ten are the recently-retired Stuart Broad, West Indian stalwarts Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo and former Pakistan batter Mohammad Yousuf

The ten-person list, revealed by the MCC on July 4 (Thursday), consists of six female cricketers: England’s Katherine Sciver-Brunt, Pakistan’s Sana Mir, West Indies’ Deandra Dottin and three cricketers from South Africa, namely Shabnim Ismail, Lizelle Lee and Dane van Niekerk.

Annually, the MCC awards Honorary Life Membership of the Club to some of the world’s finest cricketers. Five Indian cricketers - Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Mithali Raj, and Jhulan Goswami - were given life membership in 2023.

Speaking about the same, Guy Lavender, MCC Chief Executive & Secretary, said: “As we make the final preparations for our first international match of the season at Lord’s, we are delighted to be able to announce our newest cohort of Honorary Life Members of MCC.

“The individuals announced today are some of the greatest international players in recent years, and we are honoured to welcome them as Members of our Club.

“We are also pleased to be able to announce two individuals who have been recognised for their exceptional contributions to MCC over a number of years.”
