Gautam Gambhir's guidance worked in LSG, it's working now: Ravi Bishnoi

The leg-spinner finished with figures of 3/26 in the second T20I against Sri Lanka in Pallekele on July 28 (Sunday)

Ravi Bishnoi bowled a superb spell against Sri Lanka in the second T20 International (T20I) against Sri Lanka in Pallekele on July 28 (Sunday), finishing with figures of 3/26. With the pitch aiding the spinners, Bishnoi was asked to bowl at the death, and he did not disappoint as he picked up the wickets of Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga off consecutive deliveries.

“I am not worried about not completing the hat-trick. It is just a part of the game. It feels good to put in a good performance and help the team to a win,” said Bishnoi at the post-match press conference.

The leg-spinner also says that he gets along with new head coach Gautam Gambhir, especially after spending time with him during his stint at Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), where the 42-year-old was the mentor.

“I have a good bond with him [Gambhir] as I have worked with him in Lucknow Super Giants. He hasn’t asked me to change much. He just told me to keep doing what I do best. His guidance was working back then and it is working now too,” Bishnoi said.

Bishboi, who made his debut in 2022, also credited skipper Suryakumar Yadav for the confidence he has shown in his bowlers.

“He has been captaining well. I have already played under him during the Australia series. He is a captain who backs the bowlers. For a bowler, there is nothing better than having such a captain,” the 23-year-old said.

India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series to make the first series win in the Suryaumar-Gambhir era. They will hope to complete a clean sweep when they take on Sri Lanka in the third T20I in Pallekele on July 30 (Tuesday) in Pallekele.
