Players to watch out for
Nuwan Thushara - The 29-year-old paceman has been phenomenal for Sri Lanka in the ongoing World Cup. The right-armer has taken five wickets in two games at an average of 7.20 and an economy rate of 5.14. In Sri Lanka’s last game against Bangladesh, Thushara bagged four wickets and could trouble Nepal batters with his slingy action.
Angelo Mathews - The 37-year-old is no more a household name in the 20-over format but Mathews has pretty good numbers for Sri Lanka this year. The right-handed batter has scored 238 runs across nine innings at an average of close to 40 and a strike rate of 128.7. What’s more, he also has seven wickets @ 18.3.
Dipendra Singh Airee - The Nepal all-rounder could fetch you points in all three facets of the game. He didn’t fire in the first game against the Netherlands but Airee has been superb for Nepal in 2024. He has 283 runs across 11 innings @ 35.38 and a strike rate of 170.5 and has also taken 13 wickets at an economy of just 5.8.

Nepal’s top-order vs Thushara
The right-armer has taken 10 wickets in five T20Is for Sri Lanka in 2024 and seven of those have come in the first six overs. Thushara has an average of 10.6 and an economy rate of 6.2 in the powerplay this year. Nepal lost two wickets inside four overs against the Netherlands and could have a tough time against Thushara in Lauderhill.
