Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar praised Mohammed Siraj for keeping the Australia batters on their toes in the ongoing Test in Brisbane. While he has not picked a single wicket in the third match so far, the pacer has been on the money throughout.
Jasprit Bumrah got the better of the Australian openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney, while Nitish Kumar Reddy brought about the end of Marnus Labuschagne.
There was a moment where Siraj swapped the bails when Labuschagne was batting like Stuart Broad had done during the Ashes last year to change the luck of the bowling side. Commenting on that, Gavaskar feels every team wants a character like Siraj on their side.
“You ask any Indian player, they would want Siraj in the team. He is one character every team wants as he gives his 100 percent on every delivery. There is hardly a dull moment when he is bowling and he likes to take on the rivals,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
The pacer pulled out in the middle of an over due to a hamstring niggle, with Akash Deep completing his over, which had the commentators worried. However, he returned before the lunch break.
