The third T20 international between England and Australia at Old Trafford in Manchester was abandoned without even the toss taking place due to persistent rainfall at the venue. As a result of this game ending in a no-result, the series ended in a stalemate, with both teams winning one game apiece.
The rain, which started as a drizzle early in the morning in Manchester, continued to pour down heavily throughout the day. Even after several inspections by the match officials, including the umpires, there was no possibility of a match taking place, and hence, it was called off at 4:30 pm Local time (9 pm IST).
Liam Livingstone, who scored the scintillating 87 in the second T20I where England chased down with an over to spare, was adjudged Player of the Series. Apart from 87 in the second T20I, Livingstone scored a quickfire 37 in the first game which England lost by 28 runs, getting bowled out for 151 while chasing 180.
Livingstone, who also picked five wickets in two matches, was earlier named in the England squad for the five-match ODI series, starting with the first game on September 19 (Thursday) at Nottingham.
