On the second day of the clash between India A and India D in the Duleep Trophy 2024, Shreyas Iyer rolled his arm over and managed to pick up his first wicket in first-class cricket in six years.
Something even more rare happened on Day 3 of the clash between India B and India C as Ishan Kishan bowled in FC cricket for the first time since 2022.
Kishan, who represents India C, bowled in the 73rd over of India B’s innings. Abhimanyu Easwaran and Washington Sundar were the batters and they took 7 runs off the solitary over bowled by Kishan. Easwaran managed to take a boundary off the bowling of the wicketkeeper batter.
It was only the sixth over bowled by Kishan in first-class cricket. He sent down four overs for Jharkhand against Uttar Pradesh in 2018 and then bowled a solitary over against Services in 2022, both in the Ranji Trophy.
Kishan bowling in Duleep Trophy, however, has not come out of nowhere as the 26-year-old showcased his off-spin recently in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Chennai.
Earlier in the contest, Kishan marked his comeback to red-ball cricket by smashing 111 with the bat off just 126 balls in the first innings.
