Dinesh Karthik to play in the upcoming edition of Legends League Cricket

Dinesh Karthik has decided to participate in the upcoming edition of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) tournament, which will start on September 11. Karthik’s announcement comes just a short while after Shikhar Dhawan also confirmed his participation in the 2024 season of the LLC. Dhawan had recently announced his retirement from professional cricket on August 24. 

Karthik, who has played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for 17 years, has scored 4,842 runs in 257 games. After his retirement, he also confirmed his participation in the SA20 league in South Africa, where he signed a contract with the Paarl Royals and became the first Indian player to participate in the league. 

The LLC, founded in 2021, will start on September 11 and run until October 5, with matches held in India and Qatar. It will feature six teams, including the India Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Bhilwara Kings, Manipal Tigers, Urban Risers Hyderabad, and Southern Superstars. 

The league includes notable ex-international cricketers like Chris Gayle, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, and many other big names. The new season will feature 34 games. 

Karthik seemed enthusiastic about the prospect of participating in the LLC. 

“Playing at the Legends League Cricket is definitely something I am looking forward to after my retirement,” Karthik said. 

“I am up to the task both mentally and physically and look forward to playing the brand of cricket I have always enjoyed. Most importantly, to the fans, thank you for your constant support and I hope to entertain you once again on the field."

Raman Raheja, the co-founder of the LLC, shared the same excitement. 

“We are very excited to have Dinesh Karthik join us,” Raheja said. 

“His flair and his penchant to finish matches and entertain the crowd will undoubtedly add value to the Legends League Cricket. We look forward to seeing him in action alongside other cricket legends further cementing our position as the 2nd innings for legendary cricketers".
