Follow UsThe Barbados Royals (BR) suffered their first defeat of the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as they were downed in their own backyard by Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), who got home in a thriller thanks to a fantastic cameo from Terrance Hinds.
TKR needed 11 off the final over, which eventually came down to six off two balls. This is when Jason Holder bowled a no-ball to Jayden Seales, who took a single. That brought Hinds back on strike, and the right-hander smashed a stunning straight six to hand Barbados their first defeat of the season.
It was redemption for Hinds, who conceded 0/50 with the ball in the first innings.
Earlier, Barbados reached 156/7 thanks to a fine 59* off 38 balls from skipper Rovman Powell. The Royals were kept quiet by the TKR spinners Sunil Narine (4-0-16-2) and Waqar Salamkheil (4-0-13-3). No batter scored a fifty for TKR but a team effort saw Kieron Pollard’s side get over the line.
As a result, both BR and TKR have four wins from three games, and are placed second and third on the points table respectively.
