Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has been ruled out of the ongoing five-match ODI series against England due to a back injury, Cricket.com.au reported on September 27 (Friday).
The 25-year-old complained of back soreness after Australia lost the third ODI by 46 runs in Durham and wasn’t included in the Men in Yellow’s playing XI for the fourth ODI at Lord’s.
Green, who missed the second ODI and scored 32 and 42 and picked up two wickets in the other two games, will now travel back to Perth and only then the extent of his injury will be known.
Australia will hope that Green recovers on time for the blockbuster five-match Test series against India, starting on November 22 in Perth. Australia is also scheduled to play white-ball cricket at home before the India series.
Now, if Green does fail to recover on time for the India series, Australia could replace him with a regular opener and bring Steven Smith back at No.4.
