India have named a strong 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup Down Under, with Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel returning to the team after missing out from the recently concluded Asia Cup due to injuries.
The duo replaced Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi in the 15-member team and are the only changes to the squad that bowed out of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup.
The right-arm pacer endured a dismal outing in the two league games he featured and leaked runs at an economy rate of 12 runs per over in his six overs across two innings. On the other hand, Bishnoi featured only in a solitary game against Pakistan.
BCCI also announced the squad for the home series against Australia and South Africa. Mohammad Shami, who last played for India against Namibia in the T20 World Cup, makes a comeback to the squad for the home series. Shami has also been kept as a stand-by player for the World Cup alongside Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, and Ravi Bishnoi.
In a statement, the Board also stated that Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be reporting to the NCA for conditioning-related work during the course of the home series against Australia and South Africa.
