The Australian sporting summer is underway in full flow, and there’s more entertainment set to come our way as the 2024/25 edition of the Big Bash League gets underway from December 15 (Sunday) at the Optus Stadium in Perth. This will be the 14th edition of the T20 extravaganza. The last edition of the tournament was won by Brisbane Heat, who downed favourites Sydney Sixers in the final.
A total of 44 games will be played over the next 45 days across nine different venues. Once again, as has been the case over each of the last two seasons, a solitary match will be played at the International Sports Stadium in Coffs Harbour, Sydney.
Australia’s multi-format big guns will not be featuring in the initial stages of the tournament due to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but the last three rounds will see all of Travis Head, Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc and all the other Test players represent their respective teams.
Meanwhile, David Warner will be leading the Sydney Thunder, with his leadership ban now having been lifted.
