Former India left-arm seamer Barinder Sran, on August 29 (Thursday), announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket. The 31-year-old, who played six ODIs and two T20Is in 2016, made the announcement on Instagram.
"As I officially hang up my cricket boots, I look back at my journey with a heart full of gratitude. Cricket has gifted me innumerable and incredible experiences. Fast bowling soon became my lucky charm and opened doors to represent prestigious IPL franchises, ultimately culminating in the highest honor of representing India in 2016,” Sran wrote on Instagram.
"Even though my international career was brief, the memories created will be forever cherished. I am eternally grateful to the almighty for getting me the right coaches and management, who have supported me throughout my journey."
Sran made his India debut in an ODI against Australia in January 2016. The left-arm picked up seven wickets in six ODIs at an average of 38.42 and a strike rate of 43.1. In two T20Is he played against Zimbabwe, Sran claimed six wickets @ 6.83.
Overall, Sran featured in 18 first-class, 31 List A and 48 T20 games, picking up 137 wickets across formats. Sran also played 24 IPL games, taking 18 wickets at an economy of 9.40. He was part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team that won the 2016 edition.
