What do you do when you have a headache?
Take an Aspirin and move on.
But this ‘Head’ ache is such that India really don’t have any solution. Even India’s biggest antidote - Jasprit Bumrah - could not stop Head from a stampede on the second day of the third Test at the Gabba.
When Travis Head walked out to bat, surely at the back of his mind, there would have been flashbacks of his horrible displays at the venue. But nothing stopped the left-hander from taking the attack to the Indian bowlers, cutting and pulling it whenever they tried to go short.
Whenever they pushed the ball fuller, it was almost an invitation for him to drive through the cover region. Such was his conviction that free-flowing innings panned out on a day when the other Australian batters found it tough to score runs at a steady pace.
Ravindra Jadeja’s introduction only made it worse for the visitors as Head mercilessly smashed the left-arm spinner for two boundaries, taking his score past 50 after three consecutive ducks at the venue. Not only that, it took his Test runs tally against India past the 1,000 mark, the most he has scored against any team.
In all internationals since 2023, Head has taken a particular liking against the Men in Blue, against whom he has smashed 1,104 runs, averaging a staggering 64.94, with five fifties and three hundreds, sparing no one absolutely.
India have tried it all, but the ‘Head’ ache ain’t stopping, as he brought up yet another impressive ton against India, his third in four games. He is no longer a headache but a migraine, one that is travelling wherever India are.
