Andrew Flintoff's son Rocky beats father to become youngest England Lions centurion

Rocky hit six sixes and nine fours in his knock of 108 off 127 balls against Cricket Australia XI in Brisbane

Rocky Flintoff, son of famous former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, smashed his maiden ton for the English Lions on January 23 (Thursday), while batting against the Cricket Australia (CA) XI during a tour game at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane.

At 16 years and 291 days, Rocky became the youngest centurion for the England Lions, beating his father Andrew’s record for the milestone. In 1998, his father Andrew had scored an England Lions ton aged 20 against Kenya in Nairobi.

The knock by Rocky was a small reminder of the 16-year-old’s ability as a hitter as he smashed six sixes in his knock of 108, which came in just 127 balls.

Flintoff, who had played four first-class games before that match, had not even scored fifty in the red-ball format before his mesmerising hundred where he added 66 with Freddie McCann for the eighth wicket and 72 with Mitchell Stanley for the 10th.

Thanks to this maiden first-class ton from Flintoff in which he smashed nine fours and 76 from skipper Alex Davies at the top of the order, the Lions managed to gain a vital 102-run lead.
