Alyssa Healy feels it will be morally wrong to host T20WC in Bangladesh

The violence in the country has reportedly left more than 300 people dead in recent weeks

As the ICC ponders what to do with the forthcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, which is currently scheduled to be played in Bangladesh, Australian skipper Alyssa Healy believes that it’ll feel ‘wrong’ to play the competition in the Asian country owing to the ongoing unrest in the country.

The last 15 days have seen the country of Bangladesh thrown into uncertain turmoil due to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fleeing in the wake of a violent crackdown on protesters, who revolted against the quota system brought in by the government that reserved over 30% of the government jobs to the kin of freedom fighters.

The violence in the country has reportedly left more than 300 people dead in recent weeks.

At this point, it looks certain that the T20WC will be moved out of Bangladesh, but Healy believes that due to the country's dire situation, Bangladesh should not be considered a potential candidate to host the competition.

"I find it really hard to see a cricket event going on over there at the moment and taking resources away from a country that is really struggling," Healy said. "They're needing everyone they can possibly get in there helping people that are dying,” Healy said, reported ESPNcricinfo.

"I'd find it hard to fathom playing there at the moment, as a human being, I feel like it might be the wrong thing to do. But I'll leave it to the ICC to work out."

BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed earlier that India have already refused ICC's offer to potentially host the competition.

"We would still be in the monsoon season and next year we are going to host the Women's ODI World Cup," Shah told Times of India.

"I do not want to give the impression that I want to hold consecutive World Cups."

But Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and UAE have emerged as contenders to host the mega event.

The ICC is expected to make a decision this week on where the tournament will be hosted, later this week.

According to Healy, however, even a drastic change will not affect Australia, who according to her will be ‘ready to adapt’.

"I feel like we're so well balanced in the…players that we get to choose from, wherever the World Cup gets put, I think we're going to have the right squad to take it on," Healy said.

"We're obviously blessed we got to Bangladesh and got a taste of those conditions. But wherever we get put, we'll be ready to adapt."
