Ajinkya Rahane notched up his maiden first-class hundred for Leicestershire, scoring 102 off 192 deliveries in the third innings of the match against Glamorgan in the ongoing County Championship.
The Mumbaikar slammed 13 fours and a six in his innings, thus scoring majority of his runs via boundaries.
Leicestershire began their second innings 299 runs in arrears. They were bowled out for 251 in their first innings and Glamorgan posted 550/9 at the back of Colin Ingram’s unbeaten 257. In the second innings, Rahane walked out at 37/2 but forged a 183-run stand with the other centurion, Peter Handscomb.
Rahane reached his ton with two successive boundaries but was out soon after, edging the off-spinner Kiran Carlson to the wicketkeeper.
This is Rahane’s 40th hundred in first-class cricket and the first since he belted 191 against Assam in January 2023.
Rahane joined Leicestershire for the One-Day Cup and the second half of the County Championship. The 36-year-old averages 42 in 10 One-Day Cup innings with four fifties. Before this hundred, Rahane had only 60 runs in three innings in the County Championship.
