Proteas’ powerful start
Laura Wolvaardt (61 off 57) and Tazmin Brits (38 off 66) batted with a lot of control and continued to hit the boundaries at regular intervals in the third ODI. They notched up 102 runs together for the first wicket until Arundhati Reddy pulled things back for India.
Reddy’s day out in the sun
Arundhati Reddy (2/36), playing just her second ODI for India, bowled with a lot of control and accuracy, keeping it full and targeting the stumps. She got both Wolvaardt and Anneke Bosch caught and bowled, taking sharp return catches.
The off-spin duo does the rest
Shreyanka Patil (1/35) bagged the crucial wicket of Marizanne Kapp and, along with Deepti Sharma (2/27), completely derailed South Africa’s batting. They could only score 215/8 at the end.
Shafali departs after a start yet again
Shafali Verma (25 off 39) has continued her bad form this series. She looked good while batting and maintained her discipline for the most part. However, she perished while trying to play a ball away from her body yet again.
Mandhana’s magic continues
Smriti Mandhana (90 off 83) continued her spectacular form in the series and ended with 343 runs in three games — a world record in the three-match women's ODI series. She ensured the chase was completed easily, along with Priya Punia (28 off 40) and Harmanpreet Kaur (42 off 48).
