Pakistani bowling’s solid start
The Pakistan pacers started the day on a fine note, continuously bowling in the corridor of uncertainty and giving away just 12 runs before the drinks break in the first session. Naseem Shah and Khurram Shahzad also reaped rewards, as the former got Zakir Hasan caught behind, and the latter cleaned up skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto in the first session.
Mominul Haque’s eye-catching batting
Haque was solid from the first ball and looked busy at the crease. He scored 50 off 76 deliveries and had a 94-run partnership with Shadman Islam that allowed Bangladesh to not only compete but edge ahead by the end of the third day.
Shadman Islam’s superb 93
Shadman began Day 3 for Bangladesh on a solid note. He was astute in defence, and although the runs hardly came in the first session for Bangladesh, he kept dead-batting everything the Pakistani pacers threw at him. Unfortunately, he became only the second Bangladesh batter to get out in the 90s in a Test in Pakistan.
Mushfiqur Rahim’s solid innings
Shakib Al Hasan fell early to Saim Ayub. However, Rahim did very well to control the Bangladesh innings along with Litton Das after the wickets of Shakib and Islam fell within seven overs of each other. He is unbeaten on 55 and holds the key for Bangladesh if they hope to get a first-innings lead.
Litton Das against the second new ball
The Bangladesh wicketkeeper was supreme after Pakistan took the new ball in the 82nd over. He scored 18 runs in a single over off Naseem to bring up his half-century in just 52 deliveries. Bangladesh scored 67 runs in 11 overs with the second new ball.
