Brits turns things around
Tazmin Brits started off slowly but caught up well in the end as she smashed 10 fours and four sixes to get to a career-best of 81 from 56.
Vastrakar delivers
In an attack where no Indian bowler went under 9.8 an over, Pooja Vastrakar bowled an excellent spell, finishing with 2/23 from her four overs, which included as many as 13 dots.
She bowled most of her deliveries just outside off to put brakes on the scoring.
South Africa dent India with quick strikes
From 87/1, India were reduced to 87/3 in a span of two deliveries to dent their run-chase after Smriti Mandhana (46) had given them an excellent start, allowing South Africa to get their noses ahead.
Rodrigues, Harmanpreet fight it out
Needing 103 runs more to win from 59 deliveries, India needed two of their senior batters to step up. Jemimah Rodrigues (53*) came out to bat to join skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (35) when neither of them had faced a delivery.
Despite their best efforts, India fell short by 12 runs in the end.
