PBKS spinners run the show
After CSK got off to a good start in the powerplay, Punjab Kings (PBKS) spinners Harpreet Brar (2/17) and Rahul Chahar (2/16) completely choked the opposition batters, not conceding a single boundary between them – a rarity in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
CSK’s middle-over mess
With the spinners' stronghold post the powerplay, CSK could manage just 47/3 in the middle-overs, which ensured that they lost all the momentum and turned the game in PBKS’ favour.
Gaikwad keeps CSK afloat
With wickets falling around him, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad held one end up to score a 48-ball 62 to help his side to a competitive total. He continued his fine form at Chepauk, in the process.
Chahar walks off injured
While Rahul had a dream day, his cousin Deepak Chahar walked off the field after bowling just a couple of deliveries due to an injury. That changed the balance and CSK had to dig so deep that Shivam Dube had to roll his arm over.
Bairstow, Rossouw take the game away
After Prabhsimran Singh (13) fell early, Jonny Bairstow (46) and Rilee Rossouw (43) put on 64 off 37 for the second wicket to put PBKS on top.
PBKS needed just 80 more to win from 64 deliveries from there and they did that without breaking a sweat.
