Lucy Hamilton of Brisbane Heat Women created history on November 17 (Sunday) as she became the youngest cricketer in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) to register a five-wicket haul. In the process, she also recorded the joint second-best figures in the league’s history.
The 18-year-old, playing her eighth WBBL game guided her team to victory with figures of 5/8 in the match against Melbourne Stars Women. While she took two wickets in her first over which was the fifth of the innings, Hamilton removed Meg Lanning on the first ball of the ninth over.
The Bunddberg born continued her streak of picking at least one wicket in every over as she dislodged Tess Flintoff in the third and Deepti Sharma in her fourth over respectively.
Megan Schutt has the best WBBL figures of 6/19. However, Amanda-Jade Wellington has recorded figures of 5/8 twice in the competition and Hamilton joined her on the list for joint second-best figures.
