Zimbabwe to host Boxing Day Test after 28 years as Afghanistan tour confirmed

Zimbabwe last hosted a Boxing Day Test in 1996 against England in Harare

In a historic development, Zimbabwe will be hosting a Boxing Day Test for the first time this century as Afghanistan have been confirmed for a multi-format tour in December.

The tour will kick-off with a three-match T20I series in the second week of December, which will be followed by three ODIs. Then, the two sides will clash on Boxing Day in whites in Bulawayo before playing another Test from January 2-6 at the same venue.

Zimbabwe last hosted a Boxing Day Test 28 years ago, against England in Harare. Zimbabwe were led by Alistair Campbell in that clash which ended in a draw.

Notably, this will be the first Test on Zimbabwean soil since the two-Test series against West Indies back in February 2023. That series ended 1-0 in the favour of the visitors.

The two-Test series will not be a part of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
