Uttar Pradesh Warriors (UPW) finished third and fourth in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023 and 2024, respectively, and in a bid to further bolster their squad, they have let go of a few promising cricketers, ending up with INR 3.9 crore in their kitty to splash in the auction.
Based on the retentions made, UPW head coach Jon Lewis feels that there is a need to be flexible when it comes to batting.
"What you will see with the group of young Indian players and core batters we have is that there will be flexibility. They will have to be flexible when they choose to step into international cricket, and this will be a good grounding for them in teaching them different roles and developing different roles within their game," he said.
Their ability can open lots of different avenues for them moving forward. So, I think having flexibility and adaptability as a player to play in multiple different spots is really important."
The Alyssa Healy-led Warriorz released Laxmi Yadav, Parshavi Chopra, S Yashasri, and Lauren Bell, while Danni Wyatt was traded to RCB.
