The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) is organising its maiden season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) with the six men's teams currently playing for the first honors. While the men’s competition, which started on August 17, is already in its second half, the women’s competition will begin on September 2.
The women’s DPL has only four teams, and the top four bidders in the men’s franchise auction also secured the women’s teams: South Delhi Superstars, Central Delhi Queens, North Delhi Strikers, and East Delhi Riders.
East Delhi’s Priya Punia is the only player who has played international cricket, featuring in 10 ODIs and three T20Is for India Women. She will be accompanied by Priya Mishra who recently picked a five-wicket haul during India A’s tour of Australia. Meanwhile, South Delhi boasts of Shweta Sehrawat who was a part of India U19’s World Cup winning squad in January 2023.
