Australian keeper-batter Alyssa Healy felt that the announcements for Women's IPL and Women's PSL are needed for women's cricket which will help unearth future talents in the respective nations.
The Pakistan Cricket Board and the BCCI followed up Cricket West Indies' announcement for a full-fledged women's league alongside the men's competitions.
"The announcements of those competitions are pretty great. It's exactly where we thought the women's game needed to go. That was like the next step," Healy said after Australia's semifinal win over West Indies in the 2022 ODI World Cup.
India had begun a four-match women's competition with T20 Challenge involving three teams since 2018 which will return this year after a gap of one year.
"We've had a really successful WBBL, and the Kia Super League went really well, now into the Hundred - there's sort of some thriving domestic competitions [around the world], so to see the announcement of the IPL, in particular, to be able to grow the game in India is unbelievable," Healy added.
Healy, a long-time advocate of Women's IPL, felt that the competition will help find talented players in India.
"With that many people, surely, they're going to be unbeatable in sort of a 10-year time. They just really needed a sort of a leg-up in that domestic set-up to showcase what these amazing women can do, so it's really exciting," she said.
The 2022 Women's T20 Challenge will take place during the IPL play-offs phase.
