Delhi Capitals assistant coach Pravin Amre was pleased with their buys on the second day of the IPL 2022 mega auction after the franchise secured the services of pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Chetan Sakariya.
"We have a good bank of Indian fast bowlers. Our strategy is to back Indian bowlers, because with Anrich Nortje in our squad, we can use various other combinations. We will get these options of combinations with a left-arm seamer like Chetan Sakariya and Khaleel Ahmed," Amre said the press-conference on Sunday.
DC were lost Kagiso Rabada to Punjab Kings and Avesh Khan to Lucknow Super Giants, but managed to get Sakariya for Rs 5.25 crore and Khaleel for Rs 4.20 crore.
"Chetan Sakariya had a tremendous IPL season the last time, and we were expecting Sakariya's price to be higher," Amre said of Sakariya, who made his India debut against Sri Lanka last July. "And, Khaleel is a player who was with us in the past, so we know him. He has also been performing well in T20 cricket for the past three years," he said.
"So with the Indian pacers, we can use various combinations," he added.
Sunrisers Hyderabad's assistant coach Simon Katich was satisfied that the franchise had signed last year's finalist Rahul Tripathi for Rs 8.5 crore.
"Been able to secure Rahul Tripathi who has been very, very good for KKR in the last few years and prior to that with the Pune Supergiants... getting him was a big plus for us and then getting the left-handed-keeper Nicholas Pooran who captained the West Indies," the Australian said.
