Cricket fans couldn’t have asked for better entertainment than watching Marnus Labuschagne go up against Mohammed Siraj. It is one of the theatres where you’d pay the big bucks without hesitating one bit, and it put on yet another excellent show at the Gabba on December 15.
It was another passage of play where Siraj consistently beat Labuschagne’s outside edge but to no avail, further aggravating the Indian pacer, who had already started the day with fans booing him. When it looked like the pair would exchange a few glares and a verbal volley, Siraj moved past Labuschagne to do a Stuart Broad.
The 30-year-old went towards the stumps and changed the bails from its position. However, while attempting to change the second bail, the Indian pacer fumbled but eventually switched it around, irking Labuschagne.
“Flip the bail, flip the luck may be’.
But Labuschagne, who was aware of what happened when Broad switched the bail, immediately restored it to its original position. The Australian batter would have wished that the luck would have reverted back in his favour, but it knocked Labuschagne off his mental groove.
Nitish Kumar Reddy took advantage of that with a wide delivery that accounted for Labuschagne’s downfall, as the Queenslander drove at the ball wide outside the off-stump. The bail flip did flip India’s luck, with Kohli pulling off a safe catch in the slips. It didn't stop there; Kohli even put a finger on his lips, signalling the crowd to go quiet.
Somewhere in England, Broad must have been a happy man seeing this passage of play.
