Watch Highlights: Nair shines again as Mysore breeze past Shivamogga

The Mysore Warriors skipper blazed a 23-ball 45 against Shivamogga Lions to keep his hot streak going

Six matches. 333 runs. 66.60 average. 197.04 strike rate. The Karun Nair train keeps running over bowling line-ups ruthlessly in the 2024 Maharaja T20 Trophy.

After backing up his 48-ball 124* against Mangalore with a 36-ball 66 against Hubli Tigers on August 21 (Wednesday), the Mysore Warriors skipper blazed a 23-ball 45 against Shivamogga Lions on August 22 (Thursday) to steer the Warriors to their third win of the season.

While Nair has carried the Warriors in most games this season, the contest against the Lions today was a team effort. As many as five batters crossed the 20-run mark for Mysore, and that helped them post 179/7 at the end of their 20 overs. Nair, who smashed eight boundaries, was the pick of the batters.

In response, Shivamogga could only manage 151/9 as they slipped to their sixth defeat in as many games. The Lions find themselves rock bottom after 16 games, with a net run rate of -2.246.

With the ball for Mysore, both Vidyadhar Patil and Codanda Ajit Karthik picked three-wicket hauls. Additionally, Krishnappa Gowtham’s economical spell of 1/14 (3) helped the Warriors apply the choke on the Lions batters.
