The cricketing world is counting down to the epic IPL 2025 Mega Auction scheduled to happen on November 24-25 2024 at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A lot of big time Indian and overseas bowlers will be going under the hammer but so will a ton of uncapped domestic pacers and spinners.
Amongst them are some raw but talented and skilled uncapped Indian bowlers who have made a name for themselves by stepping up in local T20 competitions and domestic T20 tournaments for their state.
We look at the detailed list of uncapped Indian players teams might potentially target at the mega auction next week.
Pacers
Manvanth Kumar – Right-arm pacer (Karnataka)
> Manvanth Kumar is one of the rising fast bowlers from Karnataka. He has done exceptionally well in Maharaja Trophy, picking up 37 wickets in 22 innings, taking a wicket every 11 balls
> He picked wickets across three phases in this year’s Maharaja Trophy. He managed a total of 15 wickets with 4 in the powerplay, 6 in middle overs and 5 in slog overs
> He is someone who picks most of his wickets through natural seam movement and has a reliable off cutter and knuckle ball under the sleeve as well
Naman Tiwari – Left-arm pacer (Uttar Pradesh)
> Naman Tiwari had a standout performance in ICC U19 World Cup 2024 – 6 inns, 12 wickets, 19.8 average, 5.2 economy
> He picked four wicket hauls in two games and went wicketless only once during the tournament
> He has done decently well in UP T20 League, picking up 13 wickets in 15 innings across two seasons
> He has done well with the semi-new ball in middle and final five overs as he's picked up four and eight wickets in these two phases respectively
Aaqib Khan – Right-arm pacer (Uttar Pradesh)
> Aaqib Khan has been making serious waves in recent times. He was a part of the India A team in the recent emerging Asia Cup 2024 where he picked two wickets in two games
> He has done decently in UP T20 League, picking up nine wickets in 11 games with 5 wickets in middle-overs and 3 in slog overs
> He is someone who has a good collection of conventional swing deliveries and slower balls. His back-of-a-hand variations have yielded him success as well
Abhilash Shetty – Left-arm pacer (Karnataka)
> Abhilash Shetty has been a standout left arm pacer in Karnataka, picking up 33 wickets in the last two seasons of Maharaja Trophy
> He is a frontline pacer who finds most his success with the new ball. In the 2024 season of the Maharaja Trophy, he picked 8 of his 11 wickets in the powerplay
> He largely depends on conventional swing for wickets during the powerplay
Sayed Irfan-Aftab – Right-arm pacer (Bengal)
> Sayed Irfan-Aftab was excellent across all three phases in Bengal T20 2024
> He picked up three, four and three wickets across the three phases respectively in the aforementioned tournament
> His economy was also superb as his E.R was 6.3 overall. In slog overs, he did not concede more than eight per over in the 2024 edition of the Bengal T20
Spinners
Digvesh Singh – Right-arm off break (Delhi)
> Digvesh Singh can be a hot pick in the IPL 2025 Auction as the demand for mystery spinner like him will be high
> He was one of the highest wicket takers in Delhi Premier League 2024, picking up 14 wickets in 10 games
> He did extremely well in the middle overs (7-15), keeping the batters quiet – 30 overs, 13 wickets, 13.8 SR, E.R 7.2
> Being a mystery spinner, he mixed his variations well as he took wickets using both the googly and carrom deliveries
> He was terrific while defending totals as he took 11 of his 14 wickets while bowling second
Zeeshan Ansari - Right-arm leg spinner (Uttar Pradesh)
> Zeeshan Ansari shone in UP T20 League 2024, being the highest wicket taker with 24 wickets in 12 innings
> He kept batters quite in middle overs (7-15) by picking 14 of his 24 wickets at a good economy rate of 6.9
> He even stepped up in slog overs (16-20), picking nine wickets at a terrific strike rate of 7.3
> The combination of leg break and googly was used well as he picked 15 and 8 wickets, respectively, using these variations
Shubhang Hegde – Left-arm spinner (Karnataka)
> Shubhang Hegde has turned into a quality all-rounder in 2024, scoring 201 runs with the bat in eight innings at a SR of 151 while taking 14 wickets at an economy of 8.3 with the ball
> He has stepped up big time in slog overs with the bat, smashing at a strike rate of 171 in T20s since 2023
> With the ball, he has troubled the top-order batters, taking 18 of his 26 wickets against them in T20s since 2023
> He bowls economically in the powerplay, giving away just 6.4 runs per over on average. In middle overs, he's picked up 14 wickets this year, striking once every 20 balls
Hardik Raj - Left-arm spinner (Karnataka)
> Hardik Raj showcased his all-round brilliance in Maharaja Trophy 2024. He picked up seven wickets with the ball and scored 155 runs at a strike rate 180 SR
> He has picked up 15 wickets in Maharaja Trophy overall through his conventional left-arm spin bowling, working on angles and trajectory over variations
> Being all of 18 years old, teams would unquestionably want to take a punt on him given his all-round prowess
Shreyas Chavan – Right-arm leg spin (Maharashtra)
> Shreyas Chavan had a great season in Maharashtra Premier League 2024. He picked 20 wickets in 12 games and was the third highest wicket taker in the tournament
> He did well across powerplay and middle overs, picking up seven and nine wickets respectively in each phase
> He went wicketless only twice in 12 games and conceded 40+ runs only once during the tournament
> He had major impact against top-order batters, picking 14 of his 20 wickets against top four batters
