Mysore Warriors were on top of their game as they defeated the Mangaluru Dragons by 27 runs in a rain-curtailed fixture on August 19 (Monday) in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 tournament at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, thanks to a blistering hundred by their skipper Karun Nair.
Asked to bat first after losing the toss, the Warriors did not get off the blocks quickly. They were 61/2 in 7.5 overs when Samit Dravid and Nair got together. The skipper was put down thrice before he got going and smashed a hundred in just 42 balls to take his team to a huge total of 226/4. Manoj Bhandage scored an impressive and unbeaten 31 off just 14 balls.
Chasing the target, the Dragons lost quick wickets at the start. Nikin Jose (32) and Krishnamurthy Siddharth (50) tried their best with a 50-run stand for the third wicket but were not successful in going for the kill despite the target being reduced to 165 due to the rain intervention.
For Warriors, Jagadeesha Suchith and CA Karthik picked two wickets each as they moved to the third spot in the points table.
