Ties are rare in international cricket, but one happened yesterday (August 2) in Colombo. India failed to score one more than Sri Lanka’s 230 and got all out on exactly 230.
Batting first, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets on a good wicket for bowling, which helped both seamers and spinners.
Dunith Wellalage was the day's hero for the Sri Lankans. Despite the fall of wickets around him, he scored 67 off just 65 balls and looked like the best batter on the day. He also picked up the wickets of both Indian openers while bowling.
In response, India had a flying start, with Rohit Sharma scoring 58 off just 47 deliveries. However other batters all got set and then got dismissed, leaving India one run short of a winning start to the series.
