'Travis Head lied,' Mohammed Siraj replies to Australian batter's comments

Head tried to paint Siraj negatively, saying that if the Hyderabad bowler wanted to represent himself like this, then so be it

Mohammed Siraj, the centre of attraction at the Day 2 press conference in Adelaide on the evening of December 7 (Saturday), lambasted Australian batter Travis Head on December 8 (Sunday) morning for lying in the media interaction.

Speaking to former India bowler Harbhajan Singh before the start of play on Day 3 of the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Adelaide Oval, Siraj clarified that Head never said ‘well bowled’ to him as was claimed by the South Australian.

“After bowling him out, I celebrated. Then he abused me. You can see it on TV as well. At the start, it was my celebration, and I didn't say anything to him. In the press conference, he said the wrong thing. He lied. No way he said, ‘well-bowled’,” Siraj told the broadcaster Star Sports.

“We respect everyone. I always respect everyone because cricket is a gentleman's game. Travis Head's actions were wrong. I did not feel good,” added the Indian speedster.

In the press conference on December 7 (Saturday), Head tried to paint Siraj negatively, saying that if the Hyderabad bowler wanted to represent himself like this, then so be it.

“I said well bowled, but he thought otherwise … when he pointed me to the sheds, he got a little bite back from me. I’m slightly disappointed with how that transpired, with a few past innings. It is what it is. If they want to react like that and that’s how they want to represent themselves, then so be it,” Head had said.

Explaining the situation before the Head dismissal, Siraj said, “I was enjoying bowling to him. It was a good battle because he was batting well. When a batter hits you for a six on a good ball, it feels bad. That gave me energy.”

Before being bowled by the 30-year-old Indian speedster, Head played a game-changing innings, scoring 140 off 141 balls and batting Australia into a great position.
