Uttar Pradesh’s Sameer Rizvi etched his name in history books as he slammed the fastest double century in the history of the U-23 State Trophy of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The UP captain achieved the feat on December 21 (Saturday) in a match against Tripura U-23 side at the Kotambi Stadium B ground in Vadodara.
However, this record of Rizvi will not feature in the List-A records as the U-23 matches are not part of List-A. The record for List-A's fastest double ton is with Chad Bowes of New Zealand, who reached the landmark in 2024 when he reached the milestone in only 101 balls while playing for Canterbury against the Otago side.
Rizvi, who was bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 95 Lakhs, hit 13 fours and 20 sixes as he walked into bat in the 23rd over and, despite this, managed to score a double century.
Rizvi, who last played in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after being bought for a whooping INR 8.4 Cr in the IPL 2023 mini-auction, could not play well in the few opportunities that he got to represent the Men in Yellow.
