Rohit Sharma will play second Test vs Australia, confirms Rajeev Shukla

The India skipper missed the first Test in Perth due to personal reasons

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla, on November 26 (Tuesday), confirmed that Rohit Sharma will play the second Test in Adelaide, starting December 6 (Friday). The Indian skipper missed the first Test in Perth for personal reasons and arrived in Australia during the match, where he joined the team.

"The victory in Perth is of great importance. Our bowlers and batsmen played very well...Rohit Sharma will be playing the second test as the Captain...," Shukla told ANI.

In Rohit's absence, Jasprit Bumrah led India to a famous 295-run victory at the Optus Stadium to take an early advantage in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Rohit was seen practising in the nets upon joining the Indian team and will lead the Men in Blue in the day-night Test in Adelaide. India have won back-to-back Test series on their visits to Australia - in 2019-20 and 2021-22. They have taken the first step to making it three series wins in a row.

After the day-night Test in Adelaide, the action would shift to Brisbane (Dec 14-18), Melbourne (Dec 26-30) and Sydney (Jan 3-7) for the remainder of the series.
