Royal Challengers Bangalore head coach, Sanjay Bangar, confirmed during a mid-game interview that their left-arm pacer Reece Topley won't take any further part in the tournament due to a dislocated shoulder. His rotten luck with injuries continues as he had also been ruled out of the 2022 T20 World Cup with an ankle injury.
Topley was bought for 1.9 Cr at the 2023 Auction, and this was his debut in IPL. He started off well, taking the wicket of Cameron Green in his second over. Unfortunately, that will go down as his only wicket this season as he dislocated his right shoulder fielding at short third-man.
He joins a long list of players who have been ruled out of this season, which has been marred by injuries. RCB have already lost Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar to injuries, and are yet to announce a replacement for Topley.
Wanindu Hasaranga is expected to join the team on the 9th of April, after completing the T20I series in New Zealand. Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood, meanwhile, will join the RCB setup on the 14th April. He has been unavailable due to a tendon issue.
