PBKS appoint Bangar as their Head of Cricket Development

The 51-year-old was part of the Punjab coaching staff from 2014 to 2016

Punjab Kings have appointed Sanjay Bangar as their new Head of Cricket Development ahead of the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League.

The 51-year-old was part of the Punjab coaching staff from 2014 to 2016.

"Mr. Bangar brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our organization, and we are confident that under his leadership, our cricket development programs will reach new heights," read a franchise statement on X.

Bangar was part of the staff when Punjab made it to the finale of the IPL 2014. They haven’t qualified for the playoffs since then.

Bangar then worked with Team India before returning to the IPL in 2022. He was Royal Challengers Bangalore’s head coach in 2022 and 2023.

"It's my privilege to be with the Punjab Kings again," Bangar said in a media release.

"We have a good core of players as evidenced by the fact that we have the lowest number of player releases this year. The challenge is to give the squad the best support possible during and after the season to make the team stronger and deliver success."
