Day 1 of the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi was washed out due to persistent spells of rain that did not let even the toss take place.
The day started with rain and the toss was first delayed at 9:30 local time (10 am IST). The ground did have some respite from the rain for a little bit and an inspection was scheduled before Lunch. Umpire Richard Kettlebrough and Michael Gough did have a walk on the ground to assess the conditions but eventually ended up waiting for another inspection.

Lunch was called at 12 local time (12:30 pm IST). And only 15 minutes later, as the rain descended on the grounds of the military town once again, the umpires decided it was enough to call the day off.
After Day 1 is washed out, the pressure will be on the hosts Pakistan who are trailing 0-1 in the two-match series. The Shan Masood-led side lost the first game of the series on this very ground of Rawalpindi by 10 wickets. It was Bangladesh’s first win against the Men in Green in the red-ball format.
The second day is expected to have sunshine according to weather forecasts by AccuWeather and Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). Pakistan must win this Test to draw the series while even a draw would give Bangladesh only their second Test series win away from home. They last won a series away from home in 2009 against West Indies (2-0). Although they won a one-off game against Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe in 2021.
