Follow UsAfter starting on the bench for the first two games, Namibia’s Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton replaced Hassan Eisakhil in the Chitwan Rhinos playing XI against Karnali Yaks on December 6. It will be Loftie-Eaton’s first clash in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), with the left-hander adding a much-needed difference to Rhinos’ starting XI.
The 23-year-old has happy memories at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, where he incidentally scored the then-fastest T20I century off 33 balls against Nepal. During that knock, the Namibian batter smashed 11 fours and eight sixes, and the Rhinos’ would be hoping for the same fireworks here during the clash against the Yaks.
While the hope was that the Namibian could open the innings, it was Luc Benkenstein who was slotted in as an opener in the Rhinos’ third clash of the tournament. Thus far, everything has gone according to the team's plan, but a tough task awaits against the Yaks, especially after they were put to bat first on a fresh wicket.
At the toss, Rhinos' skipper Kushal Malla hoped his side would reach 150, a score that has proven to be a safe total in the tournament thus far.
