Lizelle Lee created history by becoming the first woman to score consecutive centuries in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). She achieved the feat on November 13 (Wednesday), playing for the Hobart Hurricanes Women against the Adelaide Strikers Women at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
This comes straight after her century 150* against Perth Scorchers Women in her previous outing. In that innings, she achieved the feat of the highest individual score by a player in WBBL. Not only that on her way to the first-ever 150 score in WBBL, she smashed 12 sixes, making the 32-year-old the first player to do so.
Lee, who has retired from international cricket, is making her presence felt in the WBBL. She signed a two-year deal with the Hurricanes ahead of the player’s draft.
In her latest knock, the former South Africa batter scored 103 off just 59 balls, taking her team to 191/2 at the end of 20 overs. This was also the first instance of a woman hitting consecutive centuries in franchise cricket. In international cricket the feat had been achieved first by Argentina's Maria Castiñeiras who hit consecutive tons against Chile in 2023.
