India sink to new batting low with another underwhelming performance at SCG

India are on the back foot once again in Sydney after being bundled out for under 200

India were bundled out for just 185 in the crucial fifth Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on January 3 (Friday). Rishabh Pant (40) and Ravindra Jadeja (26) put on a patient 48 off 151 on the fifth wicket, but that was not enough to drag India to over 200, as there was nothing substantial from the others.

This is the fifth time in this series alone that they have been dismissed for under 200, which does not come as a surprise.

Teams to get bowled out under 200 most times since 2023

14 - West Indies

12 - India

11 - Bangladesh

Moreover, their batting performance in the first innings has not been up to the mark.

Batting out time, too, has been an issue for India recently. Since 2024, only England has been bowled out within 80 overs of an innings in Tests.

Sydney has not been India's favourite venue. Since 2000, India has registered three of the four lowest first-innings totals in Sydney.

The bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, have been India's saving grace. With the wicket of Usman Khawaja late on day one, the India skipper now has dismissed the openers most times in a series since 2005.
