Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are set to retain Heinrich Klaasen and skipper Pat Cummins as their first two options ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, according to a report on ESPNCricinfo. Klaasen will be the first retained player at INR 23 crore, while Cummins will be the second at INR 18 crore. According to the same portal, Abhishek Sharma will be retained at INR 14 crore, while SRH are also considering Travis Head and newly-capped Nitish Kumar Reddy among retention probables.
The IPL has set October 31 as the deadline for all the franchises to finalise the retentions, with the mega auction set to be held later this year.
Klaasen hit 479 runs at a strike-rate of 171.07 in IPL 2024,finishing as the third-highest run-getter for his side behind Abhishek and Head. Cummins picked up 18 wickets in 16 matches and will be retained as captain for IPL 2025 as well.
Abhishek and Head formed an excellent partnership at the top, scoring 567 runs at a strike rate of 191.55. Reddy, too, had proved to be a reliable option, having scored 303 runs and picked up three wickets.
