It gets him going: Rohit backs Siraj’s on-field aggression after Head episode

Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head had a heated exchange after the latter was bowled by the Indian pacer

India skipper Rohit Sharma backed speedster Mohammed Siraj after his on-field battle with Australian batter Travis Head. Rohit said that Siraj loves to be in the game, and sometimes words are exchanged on the cricket field.

Calling aggression as Siraj’s instigator to be on the top of his game, Rohit said that it is his job as a captain to back the Hyderabad-born to achieve his best.

“When India and Australia play, these things happen. My job is not to look at one incident, but at the bigger picture, Rohit said in the post-match press conference in Adelaide on December 8 after India lost the second Test by 10 wickets.

However, the Indian skipper was cautious in his approach to the subject, mentioning that there's a thin line between aggression and over-aggression.

“There is a thin line between getting aggressive and over-aggressive, and it is my job as captain to see that no one crosses the line. But a few words can be exchanged. Siraj knows what he needs to do for the team, and he will do everything required.

"Siraj knows what to do. As a captain, it's my responsibility to back my players. Siraj loves to be in the game and I will back him,” Rohit said.

Earlier on Day 2 of the match, After Siraj bowled Head, who had smashed run-a-ball 140 and took the game away from the Indian side, the southpaw was given an aggressive send-off.

In the press conference after the day’s play, Head tried to paint Siraj in a negative light by saying that the pacer wants to represent India in this way.
