India slip to third in WTC standings following Adelaide humiliation

India, who have lost four of their last five Test matches, now have a PCT of just 57.29%

India are no longer in pole position to make it to the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) and have slipped to third spot in the standings, behind Australia and South Africa, following their 10-wicket defeat at the Adelaide Oval on December 8 (Sunday).

Australia, who slipped to third following the Perth humiliation, have regained the top spot and now have a PCT of 60.71%. South Africa are second with 59.26% but will jump to the top spot if they beat Sri Lanka in the ongoing Test in Gqeberha. India, who have lost four of their last five Test matches, now have a PCT of just 57.29%.

Sri Lanka are fourth with a PCT of 50.00%, but they will remain fourth even if they win the ongoing Test against South Africa. However, they will have a good shot of making it to the final if they win in Gqeberha and whitewash Australia in two months’ time.

Here is the maximum PCT each of the four contenders can now get to

Australia - 71.05%

South Africa - 69.44%

India - 64.04%

Sri Lanka - 61.53%
