Given that rain is set to play a major part in India’s colossal clash against Pakistan, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) have set aside a reserve day for the encounter. It is the only clash in the tournament to have a reserve day apart from the final clash in Colombo.
However, according to ESPNCricinfo’s reports, the organisers would make full efforts to complete the match on the given day, even if it comes at the cost of a reduced-over clash. If the reserve day is triggered, then the clash will be an entire encounter, picking up from the last ball on the first day’s play.
Rain played a massive role in the earlier clash between the two teams, with it having the final say on the result as they had to settle for a point each. With rain forecast on the radar, Pakistan wanted the ACC to move the much-awaited encounter out of Colombo to Hambantota.
How the other teams could be affected by the 2023 Asia Cup schedule
However, with reports suggesting that India weren’t too comfortable with the clash shifting out of Colombo, the ACC has stuck by the original schedule. India will be bolstered by the return of Jasprit Bumrah, who returns after the birth of his first child, Angad.
